Science and Technology Park
The University Council decided on April 9, 2010 for the creation of the UFRGS Science and Technology Park.
The Park is characterized as a new mechanism to transfer knowledge installed in the University for the benefit of Society in the field of technology and innovation. For a long time UFRGS has been contributing to the social and economic development of both our state and country through partnership with the State, industry sector and the civil society.
The Park will provide differentiated spaces and all other inherent instruments to a Science and Technology Park and allow installation of research and development laboratories from institutions of a technological base in the interior of the university campus. This decision will consolidate the long and efficient history between UFRGS and the society, integrating, under the guardianship of the Park, what has already been done in the laboratories, research groups and in the Technology Incubators in terms of TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION.
The recently approved Park allows installation of ventures of any size that are interacting with the UFRGS research groups focused on innovation, as long as they attend to the social interest, follow basic ethical, bioethical and bio-safety principles, and indicate the path to enable the necessary medium-term sustainability in their fields of operation.
